History
The San Antonio Public Library Foundation was created in 1983 to bring back the important role of the private sector in helping to enhance Library resources and services. Because the city alone could not secure funding to meet the Library's long-term needs, the Library Foundation went to work and started raising funds from several sources, including individuals, corporations and charitable foundations.
