7th Annual Express-News Children’s Book & Author Celebration

- Cost Per: $25/Adults and $10/Children (includes box lunch from Central Market)
- Benefiting: SAPLF’s “Born to Read” initiative which provides every newborn child in Bexar County with a literacy bag filled with two books (one bilingual), information about the importance of reading to young children, and an application for a library card, information about the free resources available through local libraries. The literacy bags are distributed to all new parents at partnering hospitals and are designed to inform parents both about the literacy benefits of reading to their children on a regular basis and the availability of library services in their area.

- Event: Children ages 4 to 10 years of age, have the opportunity to meet the authors and illustrators, hear their presentations, have books autographed and participate in book-related craft activities provided by children’s librarians. A raffle with literary themed prizes will be offered as well.
