The Latino Leadership for the Library Initiative seeks to ensure all generations of San Antonians know and understand the vast richness of the City’s Latino cultural heritage. The current focus of this initiative is the transformation and relocation of the Latino Collection at the Central Library. The Latino Collection is currently housed on the 6th floor of the Central Library and consists of 10,000+ monographs written in English and/or Spanish.
This fall, a new, 5,000 square foot Latino Collection and Resource Center (LCRC) will open on the first floor of Central and celebrate Latinos and the literary contributions they have made. It will incorporate programming, study rooms, workshop areas and a gallery space. Additionally, the center will offer areas for instructional activities such as creative writing classes.
