Book It Luncheons

Take a quick break to dine with a Festival author: New this year, Book It Luncheons are an opportunity to sit down to an intimate lunch with a Festival author and eight companions. We are offering four Book It luncheons – one the day prior to the Festival at a private home and three on the day of the Festival at the nearby Club Giraud. Book It luncheons will be ticketed and all funds will benefit the San Antonio Book Festival. Luncheons will be held from Noon to 1:00 pm.


Kate Bolick is the author of the New York Times bestseller Spinster: Making a Life of One’s Own, a contributing editor for The Atlantic, and host of “Touchstones at The Mount,” an annual literary interview series at Edith Wharton’s country estate in the Berkshires. Her writing also appears in Cosmopolitan, Elle, The New York Times, Slate, and Vogue, among other publications. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.

H. W. Brands holds the Jack S. Blanton Sr. Chair in History at the University of Texas at Austin. A New York Times bestselling author, he was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in biography for The First American and Traitor to His Class.

Sarah Bird of Austin, Texas is the author of ten novels, including Above the East China Seaand The Yokota Officers Club. She has been a columnist for Texas Monthly, a storyteller for NPR’s Moth Radio Hour, and a writer for the New York Times, O, The Oprah Magazine, Salon, and the Daily Beast, among others.

Skip Hollandsworth has been a feature writer for Texas Monthly magazine for more than 25 years. In 2010, he won the National Magazine Award for feature. With Richard Linklater, he co-wrote the movie Bernie, which was released in 2011.
