Great Books Series: Seminars | Islamic Texts

The seminars are modeled after the great books educational program at St. John’s College. The Great Books Seminars for this spring will be on selected chapters from the Quran and selected poems of the Sufi poet Rumi.
All Seminars with be held on the first Mondays in March, April and May:
- March 7: Quran: chapters 1,36,67,96,112,113, and 114 (approximately 20 pages)
- April 4: Quran: chapters 10, 17,19, 109 (approximately 50 pages)
- May 2: Selected Poems of Rumi (DoverThrift Edition)

Arrival: 5:30 to 6:00 p.m.
Seminar: 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The Islamic texts seminars will be led by Omar Akhil. The first seminar will be on chapters from the Quran focusing on the spirituality of Islam. The second seminar will be on chapters from the Quran focusing on the parables and moral teachings of Islam. The third seminar will be on selected poetry of the world renowned Sufi poet Rumi.
