Join the San Antonio Public Library Foundation and the newly opened Smoke Downtown in historic St. Paul Square for a delectable Literary Feast, featuring Project Smoke author and TV host, Steven Raichlen. Smoke has been voted Best Barbecue in San Antonio, the perfect place to host the author Esquire calls “master griller.” Raichlen last grilling book,Planet Barbecue!, was a New York Times bestseller, and his previous live-fire cookbooks won James Beard and IACP awards.

THE FOUNDATION IS GRATEFUL TO OUR LITERARY FEAST CHAIR, EMILY REYNOLDS, FOUNDER OF THE FOODIE PR FIRM DEFINING DELICIOUS AND SMOKE DOWNTOWN THE NEWLY REDESIGNED RESTAURANT IN HISTORIC ST. PAUL SQUARE, FOR HOSTING MR. RAICHLEN AND UNDERWRITING THIS CONTEMPORARY CULINARY EVENT. THE EVENING WILL BEGIN WITH A RECEPTION IN SMOKE’S BASEMENT BAR, ASH, WITH PASSED APPETIZERS AND DRINKS, WHILE RAICHLEN AND CHEF WEST MINGLE WITH THE CROWD. FOR DINNER, THE GROUP MOVES TO THE SECOND FLOOR THE RESTAURANT, RAICHLEN AND EXECUTIVE CHEF, BRIAN WEST WILL DESCRIBE EACH COURSE OF THEIR BARBECUE CREATIONS AS THEY’RE SERVED. EACH COURSE WILL BE PAIRED WITH WITH A COLD BREW SELECTION FROM SAN ANTONIO’S OWN ALAMO BEER COMPANY. NOT A BEER FAN, NOT TO WORRY… SMOKE WILL ALSO OFFER PERFECTLY PAIRED TRIVENTO WINES AND A SEASONAL SPECIALTY COCKTAIL. PROJECT SMOKE – THE BOOK THAT OUTLINES THE “SEVEN STEPS TO SMOKED FOOD NIRVANA,” WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE ON SITE AND STEVEN WILL BE SIGNING.
