Last month, SAPLF hosted its 17th annual Board Builder luncheon at the home of Alice & Clark Welder. The home served as a beautiful location and sparked inspiration, enthusiasm and conversation as our Board continues its service for the remainder of the year.
The Library Foundation’s “Board Builder” luncheon brings a prominent leader in the field of philanthropy to speak to our Board of Directors, encouraging them to become engaged and actively raise funds for the Library in support of our mission. 50 SAPLF Board members heard Haven for Hope President & CEO Kenny Wilson speak to the important role Board members play for nonprofits, and how each can be an effective member for the organization. Before closing the event, we recognized and honored two life-long supporters of libraries – SAPLF Board member Carmen Goldberg and the late Dan Parman.
The Greater Good Awards were inaugurated in 2013, and are based on past “Board Builder” speaker, Claire Gaudiani’s approaches for Board members to pursue active fundraising even in challenging times. Gaudiani’s writings call on colleagues, students, and fellow citizens to leave the world a better place. In her book, Generosity Rules! Gaudiani illustrates how generosity leads to opportunity, opportunity to prosperity, prosperity to gratitude, and gratitude to a new cycle of generosity.
