Tim and his wife, Dr. Peggy Sundermeyer (Director of Sponsored Research, Trinity University), are blessed with four adult children and six grandchildren, Tim and Peggy made San Antonio, TX their long-term home in 2014. Family is very important to them and they stay close to their Midwest roots as well as family branches in Texas, California and Minnesota.
Tim Plant brings over 25 years’ experience as a CEO/Executive Director in a variety of human services and health care settings. He has excelled in guiding the strategic growth and stabilization of leading non-profit organizations. When arriving in San Antonio in 2014 Tim established an interim non-profit executive practice.
Most recently Tim served successfully as Interim CEO of Jewish Family Service of San Antonio. He previously helped the Founder and Board of Spirit Reins (Liberty Hill, TX) prepare new clinical and Board leadership, strengthening an innovative mission to alleviate severe trauma experienced by foster youth and their families through equine assisted psychotherapy. Prior to that, he led Rise Recovery through a highly successful Executive Director transition. Tim also assisted Healthy Futures of Texas as Interim COO/Development Director during a leadership transition and restructuring process.
Prior to consulting, Tim directed HealthStar Home Health’s diversification through the addition of Medicare accreditation and the development of mental health services for children and adults. Tim also led St. David’s’ Center for Child and Family Development through a challenging financial turnaround and strategic re-positioning.
Earlier in his career, he was a key leader in the national expansion of Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation’s continuum of chemical dependency recovery services as well as the regional growth of PATH (treatment foster care and special needs adoption services). Tim was also a social work pioneer in the development and rapid growth of employee assistance programs (EAP).
Tim holds master’s degrees in social work (University of Chicago) and business (health care management- University of Dallas) and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). He has also served the non-profit community throughout his career as a Board member, volunteer, and children’s advocate.
