This new library will be the system’s northern most location and will fulfill a service need that exists in this fast growing area of San Antonio. The nearly 10,000-square-foot branch library will provide the community with an extensive complement of digital and physical information, professional reference services, community gathering spaces, programming, and events. Due to the service area’s large population of schools, families and businesses, it is anticipated that this new branch library will be one of the busiest in the library system.

This 175 square foot room will allow teams to collaborate using technology to create digital content through a system of software and hardware tailored to project development. Additionally, the room can be used to hold meetings with off-site participants or to connect withevents, friends or family at other locations. This innovative meeting room and digital workshop will allow a variety of users from business people to students to families living around the world to connect, create and share information. The donation opportunity to name the digital studio is $50,000.
The drive-thru service point on the exterior of the building encompasses 1,200 square feet and will allow busy families, commuters or the mobility impaired to reserve their materials on-line and then conveniently pick up those items without leaving their vehicles. The first of its kind in the library system, this innovative service point will allow the branch library to fulfill needs for library materials in a customer service oriented fashion. The donation opportunity to name the drive-thru is $75,000.
Flexible Community Space
The new branch library will be an important place for the community to gather, exchange ideas and hold meetings. The innovative new meeting space which totals 1,000 square feet is dividable into two spaces to allow a meeting to occur concurrently with a program. Each space, when not in use, can also be opened to the main area of the library creating additional lounge, reading and study areas. The donation opportunity to name the flexible community space is $100,000 for the entire space or $50,000 per half.
The dedicated teen area of 550+ square feet will be outfitted with the latest technology and library collections to encourage out of school learning experiences, collaboration, content creation, skill building and exploration of technology by 13 to 18 year olds. The donation opportunity to name the teen space is $100,000.
The dedicated 1,000+ square foot children’s space will include an extensive collection of books and materials, as well as technology that will allow traditional or digital story time, family programming and “side-by-side” use of technology by both pre-school and school age children with their caregivers in the computer lab. The donation opportunity to name the children’s space is $200,000.
Main Reading Area
At the heart of the new branch library is a 2,500 square foot reading area. This is the largest space in the library and includes book stacks, a wifi lounge and quiet study nooks. The donation opportunity to name the main reading area is $400,000.
