Virtual Literary Luncheon with Tim O’Brien
June 19, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
The health and safety of our staff, supporters and the community are of utmost importance to us and therefore we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 14thannual Literary Luncheon, originally scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at the San Antonio Country Club. However, due to the kindness and generosity of our Luncheon speaker, Tim O’Brien, we are planning to offer his presentation at no charge to a virtual audience. The premiere of Tim O’Brien’s presentation is now scheduled for Friday, June 19th, at Noon, CDT, a wonderful introduction to Father’s Day weekend. As always planned, Tim’s talk and responses to your questions will feature his poignant personal stories and themes from Dad’s Maybe Book.
Tim O’Brien has a remarkable ability – through his reflections and recounting of father-son, lifelong family relationships, and personal experiences with war and death – to emotionally convey the fragility, sacredness and uncertainty of life. Tim’s talk will highlight the enduring impact of everyday humor as well as dialogues with his sons over existential questions, including how they will remember him (as well as how he would like to be remembered) when he is no longer physically present. Tim’s stories will bring hope and meaning to all of us as we begin to process how our worlds have changed on our way to recovery from the effects of this pandemic.
We are making plans through the increasingly familiar ZOOM platform for as many of you as possible to view and hear Tim O’Brien’s presentation on June 19. There is no need to register; just log on to Zoom and join us online at noon on Friday, June 19.
