On Tuesday, September 17, the Library Foundation’s Great Books Seminar committee hosted a sold out event celebrating the signing of our Constitution 226 years ago. The San Antonio Central Library auditorium was filled with dialogue and questions about the document on which our legal system was based.
SAPLF Board Member Paul Martin and the committee worked hard to fill the seats with nearly 50 students from East Central ISD and St. Anthony Catholic School and more than 50 community members to listen to and learn from special event guest Dr. Christopher Phillips, a recipient of the Distinguished American Leadership Award and a Senior Writing Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. District 8 Councilman Ron Nirenberg also put his support behind this effort saying “Constitution Day is worth celebrating, and I’m glad San Antonio is now doing it in a concerted way. I look forward to even bigger things starting in 2014.”
