The library is an indispensable institution that is hidden in plain sight. In general, society pays little attention to the library, takes it completely for granted, although society would miss it dearly if it disappeared. Libraries make society better… Anyone can go to the library and they can do it for FREE – a value that cannot be overestimated.
The library is able to change people’s lives because of the FREE fundamental services it offers – computers and internet access, a small business center, online career center, the list goes on. An added benefit is they also have the priceless knowledge and experience of dedicated librarians. All of these offerings in turn have a large impact on workforce development; a fact that cannot be ignored by city leaders and the business community.
The San Antonio Public Library Foundation is honored to present the
Mary E. Mendoza Memorial Fund (click to donate)
This fund was established in memory of Mary E. Mendoza to support the purchase of audio books. Mary had a boundless appetite for reading, and was able to continue pursuing her passion after her loss of vision from macular degeneration only through audio books. The goal of this fund (and the exclusive use of its proceeds) is to increase the number and diversity of available titles for those who are visually impaired or otherwise enjoy learning through listening. If you wish to donate, please designate the Mary E. Mendoza Memorial Fund in the special directions box on our donation form. Thank you for your generosity!
