As a part of the Public Library’s 100th birthday (2003), the Foundation’s present was simply to give a “birthday gift book” to every baby born during the centennial year.

 In 2008, Scholastic, the world’s largest bookseller, and the Library Foundation joined forces to bring a mobile classroom on wheels to the city – RV decked out with literacy and art activities; space for story time; creative exploration, counting and more; and everyone leaves with a book.
